The Islamic Center of America's Young Muslim Association (YMA) is an organization for people of all ages, dedicated to promoting the beliefs and practices of Islam, through the teachings of the Holy Prophet [saw] and his progeny.
The focus of our mission is to advance morality and promote an Islamic way of life amongst the younger generation. While enhancing the Islamic identity of the youth through our initiatives, the YMA also fosters leadership qualities in the young Muslims of our community.
The YMA is headquartered at, and functions as the youth arm of the Islamic Center of America (ICA) in Dearborn, Michigan. The Young Muslim Association is an encompassing organization. It is a vision and ultimate goal of the YMA to cultivate a unified landscape of our Muslim community.
We provide various events, including over 127 days of programming throughout the calendar year. Our weekly Friday Night Program is our staple event and occurs every Friday. Our other main programs include a nightly program during the 30 nights of the Holy month of Ramadhan as well as during the 10 nights commemorating Ashuraa. A summer favorite is our annual summer retreat which is held in late June. We also hold other programs including: educational classes, picnics, recreation outings, spiritual supplication programs, and more.
We provide many unique services to the English speaking community including our website which provides recorded lectures and prayers. We also offer spiritually guided retreats and pilgrimages including Hajj. Volunteers who wish to give more of their time are asked to help out at various capacities within the YMA where they receive mentored experience of planning, coordinating, and managing the YMA’s programs.
Many YMA functions are graciously hosted at the Islamic Center of America, with the assistance of ICA staff and volunteers. The Islamic Center, located in Dearborn, is the largest mosque in North America, situated in a city home to the largest concentration of Muslims in America.
The YMA has been blessed to have touched hundred’s of thousand of people through our programs and services. We currently have over 10,000 international mailing addresses and 5,000 email addresses.
We are solely funded by generous donations and contributions from our congregation and supporters.
